A lone voice in the wilderness, who is largely ignored, sanctioned, threatened, hounded & persecuted, yet persists with her powerful message. If most governments and power centres try to silence her voice, we, the ordinary citizens, must listen to her, amplify her voice, and try to support her cause.
She speaks about the destruction of Gaza not only as a clear example of Israeli genocide but also as a part of greater US imperialist aims to control the Middle East and the world. In his meeting with Trump in Washington, the former terrorist leader al-Sharaa agreed to allow a US base in Damascus. Trump is also building another base in or near Gaza, in addition to dozens already operating around the Middle East. Israel is the main cog in the wheel of US control and domination in the Middle East and beyond. A whole country has been destroyed and a whole community sacrificed in the cause of “Greater Israel”, as a pillar of US hegemony in the Middle East.
Let’s remember that Francesca Albanese does not speak just for herself, but is the UN rapporteur for Palestine, and what she is saying about the dystopian world that we are facing will apply to all of us. We can already experience it in our daily lives:
“Look at the annihilation of Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Lebanon. So all those who were historically considered not friends of Israel have been annihilated. And the other Arab countries that remain either do not have the capacity to confront Israel and, perish the thought, they explored the idea of unity among them or with others. And the others are fine with it.
Ultimately, I think that Greater Israel is the quintessential explanation of the US imperialistic design in that part of the world, for which the Palestinians remain a thorn in the side not just for Israel but for the imperialistic project itself, because the Palestinians are still there resisting.”
